Help Wanted ...

The Elkridge Youth Organization is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization.  The success of every program in the organization depends on the involvement of the parents.  The EYO soccer program has the following opportunities available for you to help make your child's experience a memorable one:

Soccer Coach

We always have a need for coaches.  For the younger leagues all you have to do is point them in the right direction and teach very basic skills - everyone is qualified.  Coaches are required to undergo a background check and ASEP training - both of which are paid by EYO.

Team Parent

It is our goal to have a team parent for each soccer team.  This person will handle administrative tasks for the team allowing the coach more time to work with the players.  Good communication skills are a must.

League Coordinator

This person forms the teams for the season and manages the league.

Referee Coordinator

This person schedules the referees for the regular season and for make-up games.  Good communication skills are a must.

Uniform Coordinator

This person picks up the uniforms and distributes them to the teams.  Our aim is to have one person for each league.

Award Distribution

This person picks up the awards and distributes them to the teams.  Our aim is to have one person for each league.

Equipment Manager

This person ensures that the equipment is safe and functional.  They would assist with distribution of equipment to teams.  They are responsible for requesting new equipment if needed.

Goal Set Up/Tear Down

This person would transport the soccer goals to the proper field and assemble them prior to the game and then disassemble the goals and return them to the storage trailer.  Ideally volunteers would work in teams of two.

Event Coordinator

This person would work with the league coordinators in planning and staffing soccer events such as the Knights of Columbus Soccer Shoot Out, Junior Olympics, and the EYO Cup Games.

Referee

This person would be 13 years old or older and would trained and certified and would officiate at the games in our U8 through U18 leagues.

Concession Stand

The revenue generated by the concession benefits the entire organization.  This is a nice short-term task that anyone can handle.  Shifts are usually for three hours in the spring only.  Help is needed on weekday evenings and throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

If you would like more information about any of these opportunities or other ways that you can help then please contact the Soccer Commissioner, Bill Sanders.

*URGENT*  The main method of communication during the soccer season will be via email.  If you use any sort of SPAM blocking software make sure that you add the league coordinator's email address and the soccer commissioner's email address (below) to your approved list.  As we are sending literally hundreds of emails at a time we cannot go through the process of replying to several "spam control" messages.  Also, be sure to check your email frequently so that you do not miss any vital communications!
*NOTE* If you select, or have selected, the "Unsubscribe" option on any EYO email then you will no longer receive ANY email from EYO.  The unsubscribe covers ALL email for ALL sports for the selected PLAYER - not selected EMAIL address.  If you have unsubscribed and would like to receive emails then please contace the soccer commissioner at eyosoccer@verizon.net
to re-subscribe.

Junior Olympics a possibility at EYO

The Elkridge Youth Organization Soccer Program can host a Junior Olympics skills competition for the spring if enough volunteers are interested.  Many volunteers are needed to make this a reality.  We need people to plan the event, manage the event, register players, assist with the skills stations, tabulate and record scores, and handle many other duties.  See the Junior Olympics document links to the left for more information.  Please contact Bill Sanders, Soccer Commissioner, at eyosoccer@verizon.net if you are interested in helping or if you have any questions.

Lost & Found

Please report any Lost or Found items to the soccer commissioner, Bill Sanders, at eyosoccer@verizon.net.  Please include EYO as part of the subject in all emails.  Lost & Found emails will go out to all soccer families periodically.

Coaches and Coordinators

Thank you to all of the people who stepped forward to volunteer this season.  Many people do not realize that EYO is an ALL volunteer organization.  The coaches that you see every week at games and practices and the coordinators who organize the leagues and distribute the equipment, uniforms and awards are giving us their valuable time to make this organization a success.  Make someone smile - thank a coach!  If you are interested in helping EYO make kids lives richer in any way please contact me, Bill Sanders, for more information.

Field Status: *Check*

Field status reports will not e updated during the off-season.  Updates will begin when practices start in August/September.

The field status phone number for all multipurpose/soccer fields at Waterloo Park and Rockburn Park (including RB 11 through 14) used for the U6, U7, U8, U9, U11, U13, U16, and U19 games is 410-313-4455.

***** Teams may not practice or play on closed fields * Teams that practice on closed fields may lose practice privileges *****

***** In the event that the field report says that fields are closed and this message does not agree - we will honor the field report ruling *****

EYO Soccer policy is that all games are to be played as long as the fields are open and there is no lightning or thunder.  The presence of rain is not a cause to cancel games.  Coaches are not to cancel games without the consent of their league coordinator or the soccer commissioner unless a real and immediate danger is present.

In the event that fields are open, but not in optimum condition, mid-week practices will be held at the discretion of the coach.

Thunder & Lightning Policy

If thunder is heard or lightning is seen then all fields MUST be cleared until at least 20 minutes has elapsed since the last thunder or lightning occurence.  If the field needs to be cleared a second time then the practice or game is canceled.

When weather is less than optimal, or field closure is in question, it is recommended that you check the field report lines an hour prior to your game or practice to verify field conditions and availability or to ensure that fields are still open later in the day.  The Rockburn Park weather line is 410-313-4455 (for all games) and the Department of Education weather line ist 410-313-6827 (for Elkridge, Ilchester, Bonnie Branch and Mayfield practices).
